1.Lead-in.

Get Ss familiar with the topic “trouble” and learn some new words.

 

1) Brainstorming about the topic “trouble”.

2)Introduce the setting of the story to Ss.

Try their best to give examples of troubles and learn some new words.

2.While-reading.

Get Ss to read the story and develop students’ reading skills, they learn to predict while reading and analyse the elements of the story.

 

 

1)Predict & read.      a) Ask Ss to observe the first picture beside the story, read the first half of the story and answer three questions.

b)Ask Ss what they would do if they were there, too.      

c) Ask Ss to observe the second picture beside the story, read the second half of the story and answer two questions.

 

)Analyse the story again by asking students to fill in a form with key words and phrases.

Ss observe the first picture carefully and read the first four paragraghs quickly, give answers to three questions and find out the trouble.

Ss think and tell what they would do when they were there and saw the trouble, too.

Ss observe the second picture, give answers to two questions and find out the ending of the story.

Ss fill in the form and learn to identify the elements of the story.

3.Post-reading.

Ss go over some useful words & expressions again.

Ss learn how to deal with troubles and can tell a story in the past tense.

1)Ask Ss to read after the tape.

2) Ask Ss to find out and underline some useful words and phrases in the textbook and check their memory at once.

3)Ask Ss to retell the story with tips.

 

4)Help Ss to remember some important phone numbers when in trouble.

 

5)Show Ss some  pictures and ask Ss to discuss “What will you do when you see the theft?” and then tell the story.

Ss read after the tape, learn and try to remember some useful words and expressions.

4.Summary & homework.

Make Ss clear what they learned today.

 

1)Ask Ss “What have we learned today?’
